南宋庆元年间，陆羽茶楼举行了斗茶大赛。获胜者不仅将获封茶王的称号，其所培育的茶种还将成为皇家的贡茶。上届茶王陆天一培育了全新茶种，信心满满，胜券在握，谁知却遭奸人陷害，被薅夺参赛资格。陆气愤不过，抑郁而终。而其同门圣手茶仙钱万年则成为新一届的茶王。
