D县县警三上义信（皮埃尔泷 饰）现在警务部秘书课广报室担任新闻发言人，他的女儿（入山杏奈 饰）总认为自己容貌丑陋，最终下落不明，该事件令三上及其妻子美那子（木村佳乃 饰）痛苦不已。不久前D县发生一起交通肇事案件，三上被高层命令封锁肇事者的姓名，从而令媒体记者大为光火，争吵 不断。本就为工作和生活搞得焦头烂额的他，突然又被警视厅长官命令调查在昭和64年（1989）发生的一起悬而未决的少女绑架杀人事件。曾经也是办案人员之一的三上重新走访受害家属以及当年的同侪。一系列事件背后的真相昭然若揭……
