故事发生在20世纪初，出生于福井秋山家的次男笃藏（佐藤健 饰）并不像哥哥（铃木亮平 饰）那样成为令人羡慕的律师，他鬼点子多多，却干什么都没有长性，令父亲周藏（杉本哲太 饰）。好不容易给他说了一个上门女婿的亲事，起初还任劳任怨并且和妻子俊子（黑木华 饰）情投意合的笃藏，终于不满平凡无聊的生活，转而跟随军队的田边军曹（伊藤英明 饰）学起了料理，更不惜和岳父决裂跑到东京学习料理。在此期间，宇佐美（小林薰 饰）、五百木（加藤雅也 饰）等人的出现推动着笃藏命运的改变。他专心修炼料理技术，朝着光辉的未来前进……
