1990年代初，东北某工业小城在时代洪流中飞快变化，人心涌动。被裹挟前行的矿厂保卫科干事顾学兵面对着生活和爱情中的波折，越来越压抑不住回到射击队的梦想……。Photographer Greg Nolan meets Bernice, and loses both his job and his apartment. However, Bernice manages to get him a new apartment, but it is so expensive that he has to get two full-time jobs. Nolan has trouble finding time to do them both without his bosses finding out.。
