家中三代经营牛杂店的少东蒋通菜（梁朝伟饰）于一次交通意外与泼辣的少棠（郑秀文饰）相识。原是冤家的两人酒后发生了关系。少棠与父亲闹翻又遭到公司上司夺权解雇，竟在医院与蒋通菜相遇，少棠欺骗通菜自己到医院堕胎，通菜大为紧张，见通菜为人不错，于是告之真相后握手言和，通菜也把她带了回家暂住。
